National Spring Clean
As part of the annual National Spring Clean I organised a clean-up of the Royal Canal. Starting in Ashtown on Saturday April 18th at 11am 12 Green Party members and members of the public spent the afternoon collecting litter along the canal. For more information and pictures click here.
On May 2nd I organised a clean up of Ashington Park. For more information, click here.
Save money on energy bills
In February and March I organised two energy meetings to help residents lower their home heating bills. Minister Eamon Ryan spoke at the Maples Hotel in Drumcondra in February and over 100 people attended. In March Senator Deirdre de Burca addressed 40 people at Plunkett's GAA Club. Sustainable Energy Ireland sent a speaker along to both meetings. For detailed information on these meetings, click here.
I'll prosecute the bankers
The criminal activity in the banker sector has caused wide-spread anger. The offences are being investigated by the Director of Corporate Enforcement. But if the Director fails to bring criminal charges, then I will bring a private criminal prosecution. For more information, and for media coverage of this story, click here.
Back lanes in residential areas
In many residential areas back lanes are a great amenity. But in others they are a magnet for anti-social behaviour. For more information, click here.
Major events at Croke Park
Croke Park is an international standard stadium and its location close to the city centre is part of its appeal. But when matches or concerts are held the influx of cars into surrounding neighbourhoods causes severe problems for many residents. For more information on what I am doing to solve this problem, and on what you can do, click here.
New controls on the rental sector
The vast majority of rental properties do not pose any problem to their owner-occupier neigbhours. But all that it takes is one house on a street to fall into disrepair, to have an overgrown garden or to have a built up of rubbish in front of the house to damage the amenity of the street.
